1. President Pranab Mukherjee received the first copy of a book, 'Munger Through The Ages', written by late D P Yadav, a former parliamentarian. He was first elected to Parliament in 1971. The book enumerates the rich history and heritage of Munger district in Bihar.
2. West Africa's Ebola epidemic is declared as an "international health emergency" by World Health Organization (WHO). The declaration of an international emergency will have the effect of raising the level of vigilance on the virus.
3. A special committee is formed by the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to suggest measures for strengthening the Security of Parliament. Former Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh heads the committee.
4. Reserve Bank has told that banks need not report immovable property purchases abroad by residents within the stipulated ceiling of USD 125,000. It had raised the remittance limit for individuals to USD 125,000 per year from previous limit of USD 75,000 earlier.
5. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's daughter Daman Singh has penned her parent's biography "Strictly Personal: Manmohan and Gursharan".
