1. The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) has adopted new standards for rice exports to protect consumer health worldwide. It has set maximum acceptable levels of lead and arsenic in rice.

2. K.C. Sivaramakrishnan is the chairman of the expert committee constituted by the Centre to study options for the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The committee has suggested to the Chief Minister developing the Srikalahasti- Nadikudi railway line stretch, Visakhapatam- Chennai corridor and the Anantapur-Kurnool- Chittoor belt as Rayalaseema arc besides the middle region of Coastal Andhra.

4. Social networking giant Facebook has extended the closing of its landmark $ 19 billion deal to acquire instant messaging app WhatsApp to 19th August 2015. The acquisition will boost the world’s biggest social network presence by adding 450 million users of WhatsApp.
