1. A memorandum of understanding was signed by E- retailer Flipkart with the labour ministry for short-term training of its new employees. Training areas include online cataloguing, photography, inventory management, packaging and online merchandising.

2. According to the data available with two depositories CDSL and NSDL, nearly 2,000 demat accounts of individuals and companies stand frozen for violations of various securities laws and default in penalty payment under SEBI order. Both NSDL and CDSL maintain about 2.2 crore accounts. Securities like shares, debentures, bonds of investors are held in electronic form (demat form) by the depositories.

3. Prime minister Narendra Modi is on a two day visit to Nepal, first bilateral visit in 17 years. He will have the honour of addressing the Nepalese parliament. The visit holds an opportunity to build a new political level engagement with Nepal and it is expected that a power trade agreement and 900MW Hydel power project agreement will be signed during the visit.

5. Indian squash players Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal created history when they defeated the top-seeded English pair of Jenny Duncalf and Laura Massaro and won the squash women’s doubles gold medal at the 20th Commonwealth Games. This is the country's first ever games medal in the sport.

6. A committee under the chairmanship of the Attorney General (AG) Mukul Rohatagi has been formed by the Centre to look into the amendments in Lokpal search panel rules. The search panel is mandated to recommend names for appointment of chairperson and members of the Lokpal
