1. The Bank of Maharashtra has sought Rs 1,000 crore capital infusion from the government to meet its fund requirement next year. Government's share in BoM is at 79 per cent and it has allowed banks to reduce government holding to 51 per cent in the union budget.
2. President Pranab Mukherjee will dedicate to the nation the first phase of the Rashtrapati Bhavan museum. The museum will narrate the story of the Rashtrapati Bhavan using sound-light-video animations, laser and holographic projections and augmented reality.
3. The president will also release three books on the sidelines of the event in Rashtrapati Bhavan. They are “Thoughts and Reflections’-a compilation of Quotes of the President, “Winged Wonders of Rashtrapati Bhavan” on the birds of the President’s Estate and “Indradhanush”.
4. Indian Railways is acquiring derailment detector devices to prevent mishaps which cause loss of lives. The derailment detectors are fitted on the end of a coach and are designed to immediately apply brakes in the event of high level of vibrations, caused by derailment.
5. The Centre has notified new rules on declaration of assets and liabilities of its employees under the Lokpal Act. Accordingly, the employees have to file returns with details of cash in hand, bank deposits, investment in bonds, debentures, shares, insurance policies, immovable properties possessed by them, spouses and dependant children.
6. The International Advisory Board of SEBI has suggested separate governance standards for ‘big and complex business groups’ and also proposed integration of disclosures made by entities under different regulations to reduce the number of times the same disclosure is to be made by an individual. It has also voiced certain regulations for crowd funding to improve transparency.
