1. A global fraud study ‘Global Consumers: Losing Confidence in the Battle Against Fraud' by ACI worldwide and Aite revealed that India stands second in terms of debit card fraud at 32%. UAE tops the list of high rates of fraud(overall) followed by china, India and US.
2. The CII Business Confidence Index (CII-BCI) for the April-June quarter of 2014-15 rose to 53.7 points from 49.9 points of fourth quarter of the pprevious year. It is mainly due to stable government at the centre, moderating inflation, recovery in exports segment and declining twin deficits.
3. China invited India to join its brainchild Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank which aims to fund infrastructure along the ancient silk route and to reduce dependency on western international banks like World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
4. Indian Shuttler Saina Nehwal won the $750,000 Star Australian Open by defeating Spain's Carolina Martin. It is her first super series title in 2years.
5. Indian cueist Pankaj Advani became the first player to win titles in longer and shorter formats of billiard and snooker. He won the IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championship by defeating Kacper Flilpiak of Poland and has also won seven world titles in billiards and one in snooker.
6. Industrial Finance Corporation of India Ltd.(IFCI) wants to get the status of (DFI) Development Financial Institutions to reduce its cost of funding to infrastructure. It was converted to a government company last year. It also plans to get Rs.1500 crore by selling non crore assets.
