01. Long Range Surface to Air Missile Tested (LRSAM): India – Israel co –developed LRSAM was tested from an Israeli naval platform. It is capable to counter a wide variety of air-borne threats such as anti-ship missiles, aircraft, UAVs and drones as well as supersonic cruise missiles.

02. New Secretary General for Commonwealth of Nations: Patricia Scotland has been appointed as the new Secretary General for Commonwealth of Nations. She is a prominent lawyer and Dominica born. She became a Member of the Upper House of Britain in 1997.


03. Ashton Eaton has been declared as the athlete of the Year 2015: International Amateur Athletics Federation has declared decathlete Ashton Eaton as the Athlete of the year 2015 after breaking the world record to win the title.

04. India to set up fund for renewable energy: India will set up a $1 billion fund to support renewable energy companies. The fund will take seed capital from various Public Sector Units in the country.

05.Japan’s Official Development Loan to Metros in India: Japan will be providing loans worth Rs.5536 crores to assist the on-going metro projects in Chennai and Ahmedabad . Out of the above loan, Rs 1,080 crore would be utilized for the Chennai Metro Rail Project (IV phase) and Rs 4,456 crore for Ahmedabad Metro Project.

06. Indian Parliament to go paperless: Indian Parliament is heading towards going paperless from this winter season. Annual reports from the ministries, committee reports, private members’ bills, unstarred questions and bulletin -1 will be uploaded on Parliament website henceforth.


07. India and three other nations to sign pact: Sri Lanka, India, Malta and Mauritius will establish a Commonwealth Trade Finance Facility to boost trade and investment flows, particularly for developing nations of the Commonwealth. The fund, will have a start-up capital of $ 20 million

01. Mobile phones sector: A major contributor to GDP: Mobile phones sector contributed to 8.2% of the national GDP, as per figures made available. This sector would yield a projected revenue of Rs.14 lakh crores by 2020 and would create an employment opportunity of 5 million.

02. Female umpires for ICC Women’s tournament: ICC has appointed four female umpires New Zealand’s Kathleen Cross, Australia’s Claire Polosak, England’s Sue Redfern and West Indies’ Jacqueline Williams for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier.

03. 26th November is ‘Constitution Day’: Every 26th November is being observed as the ‘Constitution Day’ as the Indian Constitution was adopted on this day in1949. This is the first time that this day is being observed to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Ambedkar.


04. HSBC to close private banking business in India: HSBC Bank, a British based bank has decided to close private banking business in India. This decision is a possible fall out of an information leak by some of the employees of the bank, which resulted in a major tax evasion scam in the country.

05. Forex reserves drops to $352.365 billion: India’s Forex reserve declined by $149.7 million from $352.515 million to touch $352.365 million.

06. Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB) may be merged with SBI: The first state owned BMB may be merged with SBI as the bank did not take off on the expected lines. The bank presently has deposits worth Rs.920 crores and advances worth Rs.446 crores.


07. Complaints against banks increase: RBI has said that it has received more complaints against banks this year with the figure going up by 11% and touched a mark of 85131 complaints. Card related complaints comprised one-fifth of the total complaints received, and nearly 30% related to non-observance of fair practices code.

08. Rupee plunges to a two year low: Rupee plunged to a two year low of 66.76 against the US dollars. Even though the rupee has seen huge ups and downs, this is the first time that it has fallen to a two year low.
