01. Gold deposit scheme attracts 400 gms of gold: The recently launched gold deposit scheme has attracted only 400 gms of gold in the country. So the government is planning to increase many centers for implementing the scheme, so that it would become more popular.

02. United Nations High Commissioned for Refugees (UNHCR) chosen for Indhira Gandhi Prize: UNHCR has been chosen for the 2015 Indhira Gandhi Peace, Disarmament and Development Prize for the good work done by it in rehabilitation of refugees the world over. UNHCR has its headquarters in Geneva and has presence in 123 countries of the world.


03. Srishti Pandey wins chess tournament: 14 year old Shristi Pandey has won the All India Indiana FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at Nagpur. He shared even points with Avadh Chaitanya from Madhya Pradesh.

04. Nitish Kumar sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar: Nitish Kumar was again sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar. Following the sweep of RJD, JD-U combine in Bihar, he returned as the Chief Minister for the second time in succession. This is the fifth time that he becomes the CM of Bihar.


05. Honorary Doctorate for Ashok Amirtaraj: Veteran Tennis player of yesteryears and the brother of Anand Amirtaraj was given a Honorary Doctorate by University of East London in the field of Arts. Presently he is a movie maker and he was given the doctorate for promoting talents in the field of movie making, across the world.

06. 23rd Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation meet held in Manila: APEC leaders met in Manila for a two day summit and the theme of the summit was “Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World.” APEC has a membership of 21 nations presently. India is not a member.

07. Indian Railways sets up windmill plant in Rajasthan : Indian Railways set up and commissioned wind mill plant in Rajasthan, which is capable of producing 50 million units of electricity per year. The wind power unit, set up at a cost of Rs.150 crores would provide power to three major substations in Rajasthan and the power would be used for Railways.

08. Pay Commission tables report: The 7th Pay Commission has tabled its recommendations which will benefit 47 lakhs government employees and 52 lakh pensioners in the country. It has recommended a pay hike of 23.55% and would cost the exchequer Rs.1.02 lakh crore a year.

09. Second World Congress on Disaster Management : This conference is being held in Vishakapatnam and it aimed at addressing issues and also take steps to implement Sendai Framework for Disaster . Risk. 1500 delegates from over 100 countries would be participating in the conference.

10. New Indian Ambassador to China: Vijay Keshav Gokhale has been appointed as the new Ambassador to China. He will replace the Ashok Kantha, who was hitherto the Ambassador. Gokhale was earlier a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. He is accredited with deep knowledge in the international affairs of China.
