1. Monsoon Forecast Bleak: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has significantly downgraded its monsoon prediction , saying it expected the seasons rain to be 88% of the average. This is 2% lower than the drought level.
2. Repo rate cut by 25 bps to 7.25%: The RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan cut the repo rate by 25 bps(basis points) in the wake of weak monsoon prediction. He directed the commercial banks to pass on the rate cuts to borrowers. SBI was the first bank to announce reduction in its base rate by 15 bps to 9.7%.
3. Sepp Blatter quits as Football World Chief: Sepp Blatter announced he was stepping down as president of FIFA (Federation International football Association) and asked for fresh elections to be held in the wake of recent corruption charges against FIFA executives.
4.New bank licences to be issued by August says RBI: The RBI has received over 113 applications for its two new category of banks namely : Payment banks and Small banks. The RBI Governor said that the licences would be issued by August this year.
5. Roaming free on BSNL from June 15: Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has announced that Bharath Sanchar Nigam Ltd(BSNL) will launch national roaming from June 15 and the national wide Mobile Number Portability will start from July 2015.

1. Court orders FIR against Amitabh Bhachan , Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta : A district court in Muzaffarpur directed the police to register an FIR against two nestle officials and the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta who featured in the Maggi advertisements and arrest them if required.
2. Kolkatta ,Dhaka Agartala Bus service trial run: The trial run of Kolkatta ,Dhaka ,Agartala , bus service started from Kolkatta. The service will be regularised once PM of Bangladesh and India sign the agreement in Dhaka in the coming weekend.
3. South Korea reports two deaths from MERS: South Korea reported its first two deaths from an outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome( MERS) that has seriously infected 25 people in South Korea. It is feared that more than 700 people of South Korea are suffering from MERS infection.
4. Ameenah Gurib Fakim becomes the first Women President of Mauritius: Mauritius is a small island nation by the side of Madagascar in Eastern Africa. For the first time a woman has become the new president .This appointment is subject to the approval of the Parliament of Mauritius.
5. Meena Hemchandra appointed as Executive Director of RBI: Meena Hemchandra is a career banker working with RBI. She also served as Principal of Reserve Bank college of Agriculture. Meena Hemchandra has become the 12the executive director of RBI.
6. Atal Bihari Vajpayee to be conferred with an award from Bangladesh: Former PM, A.B. Vajpayee is to be conferred with an award by Bangladesh government. The award is “Friends of Bangladesh liberation war Award. This award was given because of the supportive role played by him for the independence of Bangladesh.
