01. Alphabet Inc. is now the new parent name of Google: Google has officially become Alphabet Inc. and through this change, the shares of Google were officially converted into the shares of Alphabet Inc. In other words, a parent company with the name Alphabet Inc. has been formed and the various divisions of Google will have their own CEOs.
02. United Germany turns 25: On October 3rd 2015, Germany celebrated silver jubilee of its re-unification. The Government had organized parties on the streets of German cities to mark the occasion. Germany after the merger of East and West Germany is now one of the strongest nations of Europe and also the entire world.
03. Canada Activist wins 2015 Right Livelihood Award: Sheila Watt – Cloutier has been chosen for the 205 Right Livelihood Award for the good work she has done in the area of protecting the Inuit of Arctic and defend their livelihoods. This award is given away to people who excel in the area of environment and international development.
04. India is now the biggest producer of cotton: India overtook China to emerge as the largest producer of cotton in the world. According to data released by the Indian Cotton Advisory Committee, the production of cotton in the country stood at 6.51 million tonnes in 2014-2015, while China produced 6.48 million tonnes during the same period.
05. Oct 02nd is the International Day of Non-Violence: The birthday of Mahatma Gandhi is being observed by the member countries of United Nations as the International Day of Non-Violence. This follows the resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly to observe this day as non-violence day, since 2007.
06. Oct 01st is the International Day of Older persons: October 01st is being observed as the International Day of Older Persons with the theme ‘Sustainability and Age Inclusiveness in the Urban Environment’

Indian banks in UK compelled to inject more capital in UK subsidiaries: Banks like SBI and Bank of Baroda operating in UK have been compelled to inject more funds to capitalize new subsidiaries, according to the new rules that have come up. Accordingly SBI has to infuse 300 Million US Dollars as fresh capital for its operations in UK.
08. 10 banks in India slash their lending rates: Following the rate cut by RBI for its lending to commercial banks (Repo Rate), nearly 10 banks both in Public and Private sectors, including SBI and ICICI have lowered their lending rates ranging between 0.25 to 0.50 percentages to pass on the benefit to their customers.
09. ICICI introduces cash-less m-visa payment service: Through its pocket wallet services, ICICI has introduced cash-less m-visa payment service which operates on the mobile phones of the customers. Using this service, buyers can instantly transfer money for the purchase made by them to the merchant establishments, using their wallet services.
10. NPAs in UCO Bank on the increase: NPAs in UCO bank increased to 8.05 % registering an increase of 3.58%, which is the highest in PSU Banks of the country. This was followed by Indian Overseas Bank, also where the NPAs grew very steeply.
