01. Nobel Prize for Physics announced: Arthur B McDonald and Takaaki Kajita have shared the Nobel Prize for Physics for 2015. The Nobel prize was given for their discovery in the area of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass. Takaaki Kajita works for the University of Tokyo while McDonald is a professor at Queen's University, Canada.
02. Terminally ill people in California have a right to die now: Terminally ill patients in California can legally end their life under the supervision of a doctor. California is the fifth state in US to allow this, under a system known as the “Assisted Suicide”
03. Advantage Healthcare India 2015 inaugurated by Ministry of Commerce and Industry: HealthCare India 2015 , an international summit which focuses on promoting services relating to the export of healthcare was inaugurated by Ministry of commerce and Industry. Summit aims at bringing collaboration and capacity building in the sector relating to healthcare.
04. 05th October is World Habitat Day: The theme of the World Habitat Day, which was observed on October 5th is ‘Public Spaces for All’. This day is being utilized to increase awareness among the general public about the need for well designed and spacious public places.
05. Ind-Ra expresses concern about rate cuts by Banks: Credit Rating Agency India Ratings (Ind-Ra) has observed that even though the RBI has reduced the interest rate by 125 basis points, banks are still reluctant to pass on the benefits to its customers.
06. RBI takes the stick to deal with NPAs in Indian Overseas Bank (IOB): RBI has initiated Prompt Corrective Action on IOB to reduce its mounting NPAs which stood at 9.40% as at June 2015. Global rating agency S&P has cut long-term issuer rating for IOB from "BBB-" to "BB+" due to a sharp deterioration in the quality of its assets.

CRISIL warns about the risk in on-going Highway Projects: Credit Rating Agency CRISIL has warned that approximately 5,100 km of highways under construction , the worth of which is to the tune of Rs.67,200 crores are under high risk of non-completion owing to cost escalation and the inability of the companies to service their debts with financial institutions.
08. Twitter gets new CEO: Twitter has appointed Jack Dorsey as its new CEO for the second time. He had served as the CEO of Twitter six years back.
09. Indra Dhanush – Phase II Launched: In the second phase of Indra Dhanush, 352 districts of the country will be benifitted. Under this scheme the children will be vaccinated against seven preventable diseases.
10. Subsidies are now just 1.6% of GDP: The Finance Ministry has succeeded in bringing down the subsidies bill to just 1.6% of GDP from 2.5% during 2012-2013
