1. Minister releases Book on Yoga: The union AYUSH Minister released a book , “ Yoga and Islam” on yoga’s universal appeal and acceptance as part of the package to participate in the nationwide first International Day of Yoga on 21st June.
2. Election Commission launches E- Netra to report electoral malpractices: Facing criticism from the opposition for turning blind eye to the violations of model code of conduct in R.K Nagar constituency, in which Jayalalitha is contesting, the Election Commission of India( EC) has launched an electronic tracking and rapid action system ( E-Netra) for people to report violations or electoral malpractices.
3. Correa, architect of national repute is no more: Charles Correa ,one of the most reputed Indian contemporary architects passed away on 16th June. He is the recipient of numerous international and national honours including the Padma Vibushan in 2006.
4. Two committees to be setup for implementing GST: Union finance Minister Arun Jaitley has approved the formation of two committees to facilitate the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax(GST)from April 2016. One committee will monitor setting up of infrastructure and other will recommend possible tax rates.
5. European Union( EU) to extend sanctions against Russia: European Union (EU) members agreed to extend economic sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine crisis by another six months to the end of Jan 2016.
6. Greek Central Bank warns of painful exit: The Greek Central bank warned for the first time that the country could suffer a “painful “ exit from the eurozone and even the European Union (EU) if its fail to reach a bail out deal with the international creditors.
7. Temenos to make India its largest centre: Geneva - based banking software company Temenos, which has a significant presence in India is planning to widen its presence in India . The company is planning to make India its largest development centre over the next three years.
8. NCERT books on eBasta: As part of the Digital India initiative, the Government will launch eBasta, an online platform that will have downloadable formats of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks, some state board books and certificates from July .
9. RBI awards bank licence to Bandhan: Bandhan has become the first micro finance company to receive the banking licence from RBI for more than a decade. The CEO, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, the promoter of the bank said ,the bank would make its inaugural launch at Kolkatta on Aug 23.
10. New MIBOR to help curb bias: Indian banks and bond houses will start dealing with a new MIBOR from next month that regulators believe would be less prone to bias or manipulations.
11. Narendra Modi Mob App launched: The PM Narendra Modi launched his “ Narendra Modi Mobile App” to provide instant updates and an opportunity to receive messages and emails directly from him.
12. Yudhvir Singh Malik ,the CEO of FSSAI: Yudhvir Singh Malik the CEO, of Food Safety and Standards Authority Of India ( FSSAI)is credited to the decision for ordering one of the world’s biggest food company’s Nestle to withdraw a universally popular product namely” Maggi”.
13. Suzuki to supply Completely Knocked Down ( CKD) kits to Malaysia: Suzuki Motor corporation has signed a deal with Malaysian carmaker Proton for the assembly and sale of an entry – level model in its domestic market, this will likely boost exports of Maruthi Suzuki.
14. China plans Kunming to Kolkatta Railway link: China proposes to build a high speed railway line between Kunming in the southwest of the country and Kolkatta. The link would be part of the Bangladesh – China - India - Myanmar( BCIM) Economic Corridor aimed at boosting trade and relations.
