1. Indian Funds in Swiss banks see a dip : Funds held by Indians in Swiss banks in 2014 fell to 1.8 billion Swiss Francs( about Rs.12,537 crore) from around 2 billion Swiss francs ( about Rs.14,000 crore) in 2013, a 10.6% decrease, says the Swiss National Bank’s annual report for 2014.
2. Government welcomes visually challenged Indian Foreign Service(IFS) officer: Union Minister Jitendra Singh welcomed Beno Zephine the first visually challenged officer who joined the IFS in New Delhi. Beno Zephine, 25, is from Chennai, who is the first 100% visually challenged IFS officer.
3. HDFC Bank launches 10 -second instant loan scheme: Private sector HDFC Bank ,launched a 10 - second paperless instant loan plan for its existing customers. The entire process of availing the loan is completely paperless, and users can simply log into their bank account via net-banking or mobile banking and avail of this loan at a click says, HDFC Bank.
4. Volvo achieves sale of 10,000 premium trucks in India: Volvo Trucks said it has delivered the 10,000th truck in the country. With this, the European commercial vehicle manufacturer has become the first premium commercial vehicle brand to achieve this milestone in India.
5. New small man’s car Multix to be introduced by Eicher Polaris: Eicher Polaris is a joint venture between Eicher motors and US based Polaris industries located in Jaipur. They have launched their first product Multix a four wheel personal utility vehicle targeted at small and independent businessmen. Powered by 511-cc diesel engine, Multix is priced between Rs.2.32 lakh to Rs.2.72 lakh.
6. Shakespeare last drama to be staged for the first time: The “Two Nobel Kinsmen” referred to as Shakespeare’s ” lost child” has never been put on stage so far .The White Bear Theatre a tiny group of stage artists in London is putting up this drama in the stage for the first time.
7. Bridge- tunnel to Sri Lanka on the cards: In a bid to build a road and rail link connecting India with its southern neighbour Sri Lanka, a proposal of a sea - bridge and tunnel has been forwarded to the Asian development Bank for pre-feasibility study and subsequent financing.
8. In a first $ US bill to feature a woman: The US announced that a new $10 bill featuring a woman will be issued in 2020 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave the women the right to vote.
9. Cisco to help in ‘Make in India’: Cisco, the global technology company has announced a slew of new commitments to the country. These included a major initiative to help accelerate the government’s ‘ Make in India’ programme and $60 million( Rs.378 crore) in fresh investments for some existing projects.
10. HC allows 2 YES Bank directors to assume office: The Bombay High Court( HC) allowed Diwan Arun Nanda and M.R. Srinivasan as the Executive Directors on the board of YES bank. This is consequent to the court battle between the two groups of director namely Madhu Kapoor group and the Rana Kapoor’s group.
11. Global Giants Queue up to make Semi- High speed trains in India: Global giants such as Bombardier, Hyundai- ROTEM, TALGO and CAF have queued up to manufacture semi high speed train sets in India which will be used for faster inter- city travel.
12. A new SAARC Satellite to be launched: PM Modi had proposed a new SAARC Satellite for communication among the SAARC nations. The proposed two ton class communication satellite will cover entire region after being launched from the Indian spaceport at Sriharikota.
13. Airtel launches 4G trials in Delhi, NCR regions: Bharti Airtel launched 4G trials for its customers in Delhi and the National Capital Region and offered complimentary upgrades at 3G prices.
