1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India’s first-ever National Air Quality Index at the inaugural of a two-day meeting with state forest ministers and officials. The composite index, measuring several air pollutants, will initially be available for 10 cities.

2. Rajeev Shukla was re-appointed chairman of the powerful IPL Governing Council. Former Union minister and Congress leader Shukla was the IPL chairman till 2013 when he resigned from the post in the aftermath of the IPL 'spot-fixing' scandal.

3. Securities and Exchange Board of India is working on regulations for index providers, entities which design and develop benchmark indices such as the S&P BSE Sensex and the CNX Nifty.

4. Centre will divest five per cent stake in Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) through the offer for sale route. At current market rates, the disinvestment will help the government mop up over Rs 1,600 crore.

5. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) may tie up with Bandhan and United Bank of India (UBI) as bancassurance partners. LIC has bancassurance tie-ups with 11 public sector banks, and a total of 55 banks, including cooperatives and regional rural banks.

1. Central Bank of India (21.5%) has topped the list of public sector banks (PSBs) with the largest bad loans, including restructured assets as a percentage of total advances. It is followed by United Bank of India (19.04 per cent), Punjab & Sind Bank (18.25 per cent) and Punjab National Bank with 17.85 per cent as on December 2014.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 6 April 2015 launched a National Air Quality Index (NAQI) to tackle the menace of air pollution. This National Air Quality Index will provide information on the quality of air in 10 major cities in the country on a real-time basis.

3. Keshari Nath Tripathi was sworn-in as the 16th Governor of Mizoram. He will discharge the functions of the Governor of Mizoram in addition to his own duties as Governor of West Bengal and Bihar.

4. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) won the prestigious Golden Peacock National Quality Award for the year 2015. The award will be presented to DIAL by the UAE Minister for Culture, Youth and Development Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan at a ceremony to be held in Dubai on 20 April 2015.

5. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi released a book titled Pre-Modern Kutchi Navigation Techniques and Voyages transcribed and edited by Ashok B. Rajeshirke in New Delhi. The book is an outcome of the collaborative effort by the National Museum, New Delhi and the Darshak Itihas Nidhi, a Foundation for Research and Studies in History.
