1. Operation Raahat was in news on 1 April 2015 as India launched a massive air and sea operation to evacuate over 4000 Indian nationals from Yemen. The operation will involve total of five ships and four aircraft.
2. Mustafa Kamal stepped down as the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC). He sent out the resignation letter to the ICC. He has been associated with cricket for 30 years and served cricket in different capacities.
3. World Justice Project (WJP) released the Open Government Index 2015. Out of the 102 countries assessed in the 2015 Index, Sweden topped the list in terms of openness in the government. It is followed by New Zealand and Norway at second and third place respectively. India has been placed at the 37th position in the 2015 Index.
4. Amazon and IBM announced their plans to enter the IoT (Internet of things) marketspace. IBM is setting up a separate IoT unit with an investment of 3 billion US dollars in the next four years. Amazon introduced Dash Button on its devices which help the devices connect with the internet.
5. India ranked 119th among 130 countries on 2015 FM Global Resilience Index, measuring business resilience of nations based on economic, risk quality and supply chain factors, dropped seven notches from last year. The Index has been topped by Norway and Venezuela is ranked last on the list.

1. Finance Ministry has raised the interest rates on two key small savings schemes -the five-year Senior Citizens Savings Scheme and the Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme. The interest rates are hiked to 9.3 %and 9.2% respectively.
2. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the merger of Kotak Mahindra Bank and ING Vysya Bank. The acquisition will make Kotak Mahindra Bank the fourth largest private sector lender in the country with about 1,200 branches and a total business of Rs 2.25 lakh crore.
3. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched Aahar, a subsidised meal scheme meant for the urban poor in the state. Under the scheme, rice and dal curry would be served as lunch to the poor at a meagre rate of Rs 5 per meal.
4. According to RBI data, economic slowdown and high lending rates of banks could lead to credit growth falling to levels seen 21 years ago. The last time the growth was lower than this was March 1994 (7.42 per cent).
5. Dr Subadhra Devi Rai, an Indian-origin Singaporean nurse was named for the 2015 International Achievement Award by the Florence Nightingale International Foundation (FNIF) of the International Council of Nurses.
