01. DRDO scientist Dr.G.Satheesh Reddy honoured: Defence Research and Development Organization(DRDO) scientist has been conferred with the prestigious ssilver medal by London based Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) in recognition of his pioneering contributions as one of the leading navigation and avionics exports for promoting Aerospace and Aeronautics in India.

02. 04. Tenth World Hindi Conference begins in Bhopal: 10th world hindi conference is being held in Bhopal with the theme Jagat-Vistar and Sambhavnaye. Scholars from 39 countries are attending the conference which will also deliberate on trying to make hindi as a language of administration.

IIP beats expectations, rises 4.2% in July : Industrial output growth slowed to 4.2% in July from an upwardly revised 4.4% in the previous month but still beat analysts’ expectations, buoyed by a decent expansion in manufacturing, showed the official data released recently. What gave some credence to policymakers’ assertion about a turnaround of the economy was the fact that both capital goods and consumer durables rose in double digits — 10.6% and 11.4%, respectively in July — albeit aided by favourable bases (both the segments had contracted a year earlier). The 4.7% growth in manufacturing, although lower than the 5.4% in the previous month, does corroborate the Centre’s robust mop-up of indirect taxes so far this fiscal.

06. UK to lend helping hand to India for building smart cities : UK will be assisting India’s initiatives taken by the UK to support the making of smart cities in India. A report that caters to India’s Smart Cities Programme was floored by the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and Ernst &Young to scope the potential opportunities for both UK and Indian companies through Prime MinisterNarendra Modi’s ambition of building 100 smart cities.

07. FIPB clears 14 FDI proposals: The FIPB has cleared 14 foreign investment proposals including that of Shyam Sistema Teleservices and IIFL Holdings. The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) chaired by Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das in its meeting considered 23 FDI proposals, The FIPB approved foreign investment proposals of Eros International Media, Indian Rotorcraft, AGS Transact Technologies and O-Zone Networks, sources said.
