01. BSE has highest number of listed companies in the world: WFE: The World Federation of Exchanges (WEF), has announced that the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has the highest number of listed companies in the world. By the end of June 2015, a total number of 5689 companies were listed with the BSE. However, out of 5689, only one company was a foreign company. The National STOCK Exchange of India (NSE) had 1750 listed companies by the end of June 2015.

02. The Govt. has approved introduction of Gold Monetization Scheme: Gold Monetization Scheme has been announced by the Government. Under this initiative, revamped Gold Deposit Scheme (GDS) and the Gold Metal Loan (GML) Scheme will be implemented. The objective of the scheme is to mobilize the gold held by households and institutions in the country, provide a fillip to the gems and jewellery sector in the country by making gold available as raw material on loan from banks and to reduce reliance on import of gold to meet the domestic demand.

Gold for Weightlifter Deepak Lather in 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games: Indian weightlifters Deepak Lather has won a gold medal in the 62 kg category of the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) being held in Apia, Samoa. He finished with a total of 258 kg with 120 kg in snatch, a new CYG record, and 138 kg in clean and jerk.

04. Union Cabinet allows 100 per cent FDI under automatic route for white label ATMs: The Union Cabinet has allowed 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) under the automatic route for white label ATM operations (WLAO). This decision will give a fillip to the government’s ambitious effort to promote financial inclusion in the country.

05. Gandhi Peace Prize 2014 conferred on ISRO: Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2014 was conferred on Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The prize was given for its contribution in development of space technology and satellite-based services, making space technology a catalyst of development of India and bringing societal transformation and provided the service to the common man and nation.

06. Queen Elizabeth II becomes Britain’s longest-reigning Monarch: Queen Elizabeth II is now the longest-reigning Monarch of Britain and the longest-reigning female monarch in history. She surpassed the previous record held by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria who had reigned thousand-year-old dynastical institution of Britain for more than 63 years and 7 months.

07. Anirban Lahiri becomes 1st Indian golfer to qualify for President’s Cup: Ace Indian Golfer Anirban Lahiri has become the first Indian to qualify for the prestigious President’s Cup of Golf. In 2015, he has won 2 European Tour, 7 Asian Tour including the Hero Indian Open in 2015 and Malaysian Open. So far, he has won 11 National titles in India including Ahmedabad Masters and Haryana Open. Union Government has bestowed Arjuna Award on him in 2014.

08. Andhra Pradesh launches e-Pragati to bring all government services under one roof: Andhra Pradesh has launched e-Pragati, a comprehensive architecture to leverage the latest advances in e-governance tools. With this launch, Andhra Pradesh became first state in India to execute and conceive state-wide enterprise e-governance architecture. It is the rechristened version of AP State Enterprise Architecture (APSEA) that seeks to bring all state government services under one roof.
