01. IOC stake sale fully subscribed : Amid chaotic conditions in global stock markets, the offer-for-sale (OFS) of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was subscribed to the tune of Rs.11,107 crore, and the issue was oversubscribed by 18 per cent and the government is likely to receive around Rs.9,379 crore out of this.

02. Thermal coal imports soar 24% to 33 MT at 12 major ports: Imports of thermal coal jumped 24 per cent at the country’s top 12 major ports to 32.54 Million Tonnes (MT) during the April-July period this year.

04. Subsidy for shipbuilding industry : Government has decided to offer subsidy to the shipbuilding industry. Under the scheme, the Government will give 50 per cent subsidy to States to erect floating jetties, while the balance will have to be borne by the States.

05. Amol Palekar appointed as Oscar jury : Veteran Hindi actor Amol Palekar has been appointed as the Chairman of India’s Oscar jury by Mumbai based Film Federation of India (FFI). He will head the 17-member jury panel which will select the Indian films official entry in the best foreign film category of the 88th Academy Awards which will be held in Los Angeles in February 2016.

06. Tata enters into MoU with AP Govt. : Tata Trusts entered into MoU with AP Government to develop 264 Smart Villages in the Vijayawada constituency as part of Corporate Social Responsibility. This will include areas of education, drinking water, health and nutrition, self-employment for the youth, bamboo cultivation, fisheries etc. by developing each village.

07. ‘Vidyalakshmi’ launched : Government launched a web-based portal www.vidyalakshmi.co.in for the students seeking educational loans. The portal would aim to administer and monitor scholarship as well as educational loan schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Vidya Lakshmi Karyakram (PMVLK)
