1. Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, has given its ex-post-facto approval for entering into an agreement with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for extending US$1.1 billion as a special /ad-hoc swap. The swap agreement remains outside the Framework on Currency Swap Arrangement for SAARC Member Countries.
2. Fourteenth (14th) edition of Indo-French naval exercise (VARUNA) has begun at Goa. VARUNA aims at deriving mutual benefit from the experiences of the two navies.
3. Minister of Minority Affairs recently said that the government has been successfully implementing the “Nai Roshni” Scheme for Leadership Development of Minority Women from 2012-13.
4. United Nations (UN) observed World Book and Copyright Day across the world on 23 April 2015. For the year 2015, UNESCO designated Incheon, South Korea as the World Book Capital 2015 in recognition of its programme to promote reading among people and underprivileged sections of the population.
5. Sangeeta Bhatia, an Indian-origin scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), won the prestigious 2015 Heinz Award in the Technology, the Economy, and Employment category. This was the 20th Heinz Award which is given annually since 1993.

1. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has put in place an early warning system to prevent financial frauds. An exclusive cell will also be created to monitor and take necessary action on complaints received.
2. The Reserve Bank is planning to allow business correspondents of one bank to offer payment services to other lenders for better efficiency and optimisation. RBI, has issued draft guidelines for implementation of the Bharat Bill Payment System and soon the system will be launched.
3. Indian Railways recently launched E-Samiksha, an online monitoring mechanism. E-Samiksha is a real time, on-line system for monitoring of follow-up action on the decisions taken during the presentations made by different Ministries/Departments to the Prime Minister.
4. Union Cabinet recently cleared amendments to the Juvenile Justice Act that would allow juveniles aged between 16 and 18 to be tried as adults for heinous crimes such as murder and rape.
5. According to a report from Symantec, a Security Solutions provider, India ranked second among nations that were most targeted for cyber crimes through the social media in 2014, after the US.
