01.Income Tax department is now on Twitter: The Income Tax department has launched its official handle on micro-blogging website Twitter. The handle “incometaxindia_” is aimed to keep taxpayers and other users updated about the activities of the department.


02. “Green Bonds” by Indian Railways: The Indian Railways will be floating ‘Green Bonds’ with an aim of funding its clean energy projects. The funds so raised will also be used for setting up solar and wind energy plants which will reduce its dependence on conventional energy.

03. Deficit fiscal targets to be met by Government: The government is considering to meet the deficit in its fiscal targets by increasing duties and also by seeking additional dividend from Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

04. Decrease in exports consisting of top 5 sectors: Exports in top 5 sectors, which included engineering decreased by 31% and aggregated to USD 13.6 billion in September this year. The figure was USD 19.7 billion in September 2014. The top five sectors are engineering, petroleum, textiles, gems and jewellery.

05. RJD – JDU combine sweeps Bihar Polls: RJD – JDU combination of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav performed exemplarily well in the Bihar polls, overshadowing BJP. The combine secured 151 seats, while BJP tanked 53. Congress secured 27 seats. Nitish Kumar is set to become the Chief Minister again.


06. FDI proposals worth Rs.5200 crores cleared: The Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) cleared FDI proposals worth Rs.5200 crores, which included the proposals of India Advantage Fund and L&T Finance Holdings.

07. OECD predicts 7.2% growth for India: As per the reports of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) , the growth rate for India is predicted at 7.2%. However, it cut the global growth forecast for this year to 2.9 per cent citing a “further sharp downturn in emerging market economies and world trade”.
