01. Jharkhand Government introduces Mobile governance: Jharkhand State Government launched 14 mobile applications and three web portals in a move which will usher in mobile governance in the state. This initiative is part of the digital India campaign launched by the government recently.

02. Unique drums festival held in Meghalaya: ‘Wangala’ a unique drums festival was held in Meghalaya recently. It is usually held as part of the post harvest festival of North East India. It is celebrated during the second week of November every year.

03. New Executive Director for International Monetary Fund (IMF) : Renowned economist Subir Gokaran has been appointed as the ED of IMF. The new ED will replace Rakesh Mohan, whose tenure ends recently. Subir had earlier served as the Deputy Governor of RBI for three years from 2009 to 2012.


04. Pakistan and China enter into a common project: China –Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, wherein China would invest 1.62 billion USD for construction of an expressway linking the harbor and the coastline with a rail link. This project and nine other projects are expected to be completed in 3 to 5 years.

05. New Post for Raghuram Rajan: RBI governor Dr.Raghuram Rajan has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He is the first Indian to be appointed to this post. He was earlier a member of the Board of BIS.

06. Ambedkar memorial inaugurated in London: PM Modi inaugurated the Ambedkar Memorial in London recently. It is situated at the King Henry’s road in London. He also unveiled a statue for Basaveshwara, a renowned philosopher of the yesteryears.

07. Kamala Laxman passes away: Noted children’s book writer and wife of the famous cartoonist R.K.Laxman passed away recently. She was born in Chennai and studied in Delhi.


08. Nico Roseberg is the new Brazilian F-1 champion: Ace driver Nico Roseberg driving a Mercedes Benz won the Brazilian F-1 championship. This title is his 13th in his career and fifth in the current season. Lewis Hamilton secured the second position.

01. Retail inflation up in October: Retail inflation touched 5% in October on account of the high prices of pulses and other food items. The CPI based retail inflation was at 4.41% . The overall consumer food inflation rose to 5.25% in October.

02. Industrial production hits four months low: The industrial production hit a four month low of 3.6% during September 2015. This fall is attributed to the subdued production in the manufacturing and non-durable goods segments.

03. Fortune magazine’s list of global business leaders released: As per the Fortune magazine’s list of global business leaders released recently, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and Master Card’s Ajay Banga have found their names being included within the top fifty ranks.


04. New Norms for FDIs: FDI in duty free shops has been allowed fully i.e.100%. It will be 49% in the defence sector. 100% FDI has been allowed in DTH, teleports, mobile TV and cable networks.

05. Global Diversity List: Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of Sulabh, a NGO and Purnima Mehta, Director General of the American Institute of Indian Studies are the Indians, whose names are list in an inaugural ‘Global Diversity List.’, supported by ‘The Economist’ magazine. The names have been included in the list as these persons have used their influence and positions in public life to make an impact on the diversity.


06. International Year of Pulses: The year 2016 has been declared as the International Year of Pulses by the UN General Assembly. The observance of the year is aimed to increase the public awareness about the nutritional health benefits in using pulses. UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization will facilitate the implementation of the year.

07. Ombudsman for Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI): BCCI has appointed A P Shah, a retired Justice as its first-ever Ethics Officer or Ombudsman. BCCI has also appointed former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly as the Chairman of the technical committee.
