1. Solar power plant commissioned in Neyveli: A 10-MW solar photo voltaic power plant was commissioned in Neyveli making it the first renewable energy project of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC). The plant located on 54 acres was installed by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited at a cost of Rs.74.60 crore.

4. Ahead of Modi’s U.S. visit, $3 bn defence deals cleared: The Union government approved two major defence deals between the two countries. The move is expected to give a boost to bilateral defence ties. The deals, worth over $3 billion for buying two of the world’s most advanced helicopters, have been in cold storage for several years.

7. RBI lowers repo rate by 50 basis points to 6.75 per cent: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reduced the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 50 basis points from 7.25 per cent to 6.75 per cent with immediate effect.

Union Government unveils Green Highways Policy 2015: Union Government has launched Green Highways (Plantation, Transplantation, Beautification & Maintenance) Policy-2015 to promote greening of National Highway corridors across the country. The policy was unveiled by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.

9. Google to provide Wi-Fi in 400 Indian railway stations: Search engine giant Google has announced to provide high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 Indian railway stations. To set up public Wi-Fi hotspots, Google is working with the Indian Railways and RailTel, a government-owned provider of telecommunications infrastructure to the railways.
