01. 29 August: National Sports Day : August 29th is being observed as National Sports Day across the country. Significance to mark the birth anniversary of Hockey veteran Major Dhyan Chand. On this day, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Awards and Dronacharya Awards are bestowed upon sports personalities for their contributions in sports, by the President of India at New Delhi.

03. Indian Bank launches IndPay mobile app service : Indian Bank has launched IndPay, a mobile application service that enables its customers to operate bank accounts from anywhere, anytime. IndPay can be operated through smartphones compatible with Android, Windows and iOS mobile operating systems. Customers can do transactions like enquiries, getting mini statements and transferring funds to any account. The new service was unveiled by Indian Bank MD and CEO M K Jain.

04. Doha to host 1st edition of PSL : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the venue for hosting the inaugural edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) during February 2016 has been chosen as Doha, Qatar.

05. Swiss banks ask Indians to disclose their foreign assets : Swiss and other European banks have asked Indian clients to disclose their accounts to the Indian tax authorities. These banks have instructed their customers from India, including those who have turned NRIs to avail the onetime compliance window to disclose their un-cleared foreign assets.
06. Government launching 2kg LPG bottles : The government is planning to launch 2-kg LPG bottles at kirana stores even as it introduced online booking. These cylinders can be easily carried and will be beneficial to rural poor who will not be able to buy normal 14.2kg or 5 kg cylinders.

07. New recruits in public sector banks need mentoring says Dena Bank Executive Director: Dena Bank Executive Director Sri.R.K.Takkar has indicated that the new recruits in PSBs have to be mentored through a proper system which will enable them to have a good grasp of various banking functions. If not, he said, the banks will be challenged by a knowledge gap.
