1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Kazakhstan: On his first visit to Central Asian Countries, Mr. Modi who flew to Kazakhstan’s capital said India and Central Asia could not achieve their full potential without each other; he further said “The Islamic heritage of both India and Central Asia is defined by the highest ideals of Islam – Knowledge, piety, compassion and welfare.”
2. Delphic Games come to India: The Delphic Games is to art and culture what the Olympics is to sports. Started a 100 years after the modern edition of the Olympics, the youth edition of the Delphic Games will be hosted in India for the first time, from February 1 to 14, 2016, in Goa. National Political Parties to be brought under RTI Scanner: The Supreme Court asked six national parties, including the BJP and the Congress to explain their hesitation in disclosing complete details of their income, expenditure, donations etc., and bring them under scanner of the Right to Information Act. This will make political parties accountable further financial assets.
5. Heineken poised to wrest control of UB from Mallya: Dutch beer giant Heineken has gained the right to control India’s largest brewer United Brewerise(UB), the last big company controlled by troubled tycoon Vijay Mallaya.
6. SBI to Launch Warning signals to Detect NPA’s: To effectively deal with problem of bad loans, SBI is in the process of introducing a system of early warning signals to detect NPAs and take corrective action.
