1. Unwed mother can be sole guardian: Supreme Court: Upholding the right of an unwed mother to apply for sole guardianship over her minor son without prior consent of the child’s absentee biological father, the Supreme Court said women are increasingly choosing to raise their children alone, and there was no need to thrust an uncaring father on a child. Prior consent of absentee biological father not needed says Supreme Court.

India, Pak to begin process of joining SCO: India and Pakistan would start the process of joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) next week, Chinese vice foreign minister Cheng Guoping said. It’s a move that will make the China-backed organization a major security bloc with four nuclear armed nations, China, Russia, India and Pakistan, as members.
8. Wait for Hindu marriage law in Pakistan just got longer: The lawmakers deferred final approval for the Hindu Marriage Law in Pakistan. The Hindus, who constitute 1.6% of Pakistan’s total population, have been struggling to get a specific marriage law since the country was founded in 1947. Hindu marriages can’t be Legalized or registered in Pakistan in the absence of such a law.
