01. Women pilots in fighter aircrafts:Ministry of Defence approved induction of women pilots in combat aircrafts. They will fly fighter planes, with men henceforth. There are 1500 women in IAF, out of which 90 are pilots and 15 are navigators.

02. Indian Origin Mayor for Bonn: A person of Indian origin, Ashok Alexander Sridharan has been sworn in as the Mayor for Bonn in Germany. He is the first person of Indian origin to hold this post. He has an administrative experience in Municipal governance for 21 years.

03. Indian mountaineers climb untouched peak: Two Indian climbers , Arun Vajpai andBhupesh Kumar climbed an untouched peak, the 6180 metres mountain in the Himachal Spiti Valley and named it as Mount Kalam, in memory of the late president.

04. AMRUT action plan in Telengana: The newly formed state Telengana has drafted a 415 crore plan under the scheme AMRUT for enhancing water supply in the seven cities coming under the scheme.

05. Andhra signs MoU with Japan: Andhra Pradesh has signed an agreement with Japan for development of the new capital city Amaravathi. Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a major gateway for India through the seas in view of its geographical location.

06. Remittances into India will grow: World Bank has predicted that foreign remittances into India will grow at 2.5%, when compared to other developing nations, where the growth will be 2%. Accordingly the remittances into India would aggregate to US $ 72 billion in 2015, compared to China which would touch about US $ 64 billion.

07. Need to include e-commerce while calculating inflation: A research by SBI reveals that there is an important need to include e-commerce while calculating retail inflation. This inclusion may further reduce retail inflation by 0.25%. The e-retail market was around USD 6 billion in 2015.

08. RBI to have a separate IT arm: RBI is planning to create a separate IT subsidiary, which would handle Cyber issues with regard to the banks and also to check cyber frauds in banking industry. The proposed subsidiary would become operational in six to eight months.

09. Postmen to be tutors: Government is planning to induce financial literacy in rural areas with the help of postmen, who would teach the villagers how to access the banking system and various other financial inclusion scheme.

10. Shekar Basu is the new Chairman of AEC: Atomic Energy Commission is getting a new Chairman, Shekar Basu. He headed the country’s premier nuclear research institute Baba Atomic Research Center, before this assignment.
