01. Yet another victory for Sania-Hingis Pair: The famous Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis pair was in the limelight again, as they won the Singapore Open Tennis Tournament. This is their 9th trophy of the season and they have been unbeaten in the year 2015 so far.

02. New Zealand wins rugby world cup: New Zealand has won the rugby world cup for the third time. With this win, New Zealand has retained the Webb Ellis cup, which is the trophy awarded to the winners of the rugby world cup.

03. Supersonic Cruise Missile BrahMos successfully test-fired: India has successfully test fired BrahMos, which is the supersonic cruise missile. The missile has been developed by the BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited. The missile has the shortened names of the two great rivers which are the Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva of Russia.

04. BSNL ties up with Facebook for rural internet hotspots: State owned BSNL has tied up with Face book to provide 100 internet hotspots in the rural areas of India. This will cover western and southern India. The terms of the project, are that the first half an hour will be free. The network will have a capacity to allow an average of 2000 people to browse at the same time.

05. Reliance Communications takes over MTS: RCom has taken over the Russian company Sistema Shyam Teleservices, which provides telecom services in India under the brand name MTS. The deal is valued at 4500-5000 crore rupees and will bring in 9 million customers to RCom.

06. Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme (ATAS) – Vikalp launched: Indian Railways launched Vikalp, a scheme which entitles waitlisted passengers of one train to be accommodated in another train, if the tickets are not confirmed by the train in which they have booked the ticket. Presently this system is operable in a few sectors around Delhi on a trial basis for six months.

07. New Executive Director for RBI: Deepak Singhal has been appointed as the new Executive Director of RBI. Prior to this appointment, he was working as the Regional Director in-charge of RBI, New Delhi.

08. Punjabi third most spoken language in Canadian Parliament: Next to English and French, Punjabi has been declared as the most spoken language in The House of Commons of Canada, after 20 Punjabis were elected to the house in 2015.

09. India ranked 99 in the Prosperity Index: In the Legatum Prosperity Index, which was recently released, India has been ranked 99 in the overall prosperity, among 142 nations. Norway has been ranked No.1 for the seventh consecutive year.

10. All India Radio Programme bags award: AIR program on child labour has bagged the first prize under the community program category in the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) competitions. The programme was created in Malayalam which had the title ‘Nilkkam Ivarkkoppam’, which means ‘Stand Beside Them.’
