1. 795 low-capacity cell phone towers dot Red Corridor: In the past three months, 795 a mobile-phone towers have been set up in the Maoist-affected districts of the country, known as the Red Corridor.
2. Fed leaves key interest rates unchanged, citing low inflation: The Federal Reserve is keeping U.S. interest rates at record lows in the face of threats from a weak global economy, persistently low inflation and unstable financial markets.
3. Sustained low inflation necessary for lower cost of funds: RBI Ahead of the bi-monthly monetary policy review, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor Urjit Patel said sustained low inflation over medium- to long-term is necessary to bring down the cost of fund.
4. Krishnapatnam Port to install coal conveyor system: Krishnapatnam Port, 180 km north of Chennai, is investing Rs.780 crore for installing a direct coal conveyor system to speed up movement of the fuel and cut environmental pollution.
5. Indian Railways Develops Hybrid Vacuum Toilets: As per announced in the Budget 2015, Development Cell of the Railway Board has come up with a design that combines the advantages of vacuum toilets and those of Bio toilets to create a new design of “Hybrid Vacuum Toilet”.

7. Govt. approves promulgation of Negotiable Instruments Ordinance: The Government has approved the ordinance which will provide for filing of cases relating to bouncing of cheques, only in a court within whose local jurisdiction the bank branch of the payee is situated.

Keeping inflation low is key to growth: RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan: RBI Governor Dr.Raghuram Rajan has said that keeping inflation low is the key task for sustainable economic growth of the country. During the next monetary policy review meeting on RBI is expected to announce this year’s fourth rate cut.
9. Prime Minister launches IPDS to ensure 24-hour power supply to every household: With a goal to provide 24-hour power supply to each and every house of the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on has launched the National Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS). The scheme has a funds outlay of Rs.45,000 Crores.
10. New MD & CEO for Canara Bank: Rakesh Sharma has been appointed as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bengaluru based Canara Bank. Earlier to this appointment, he was the MD and CEO of Lakshmi Vilas Bank. He has expertise in retail and wholesale banking, corporate credit, asset liability management, loan syndication, trade finance, industrial relations and human resources issues.

Wi-Fi Services in Railway Stations: Under ‘Project Nilgiri’ The Indian Railways and Google will provide free Wi-Fi services in 400 railway stations across the country.Users will be able to access high speed internet for the first 30 minutes by using One Time Password (OTP) generated for this purpose. After 30 minutes, the speed will drop and become slow.
13. Volcano erupts in Japan: The largest volcano of Japan Mount Aso Volcano erupted recently by blasting a plume of black smoke 2-kilometer high and the ashes from the volcano fell up to 4-kilometer away. However, there have been reports of no causalities or damage from the volcano’s eruption.
14. IIT (D) and IISc in global universities ranking list: In the recently released QS World University Rankings 2015-16, the Indian Institute of Science-Bangalore (IISc-B) and the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D) were ranked 147 and 179 respectively.

RBI signs MoU with the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB): Reserve Bank of India has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information with Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) The RBI has so far entered into MoU with supervisors of 27 countries to promote greater co-operation and share supervisory information.
16. Narsingh Pancham Yadav wins bronze: Ace Indian Wrestler Narsingh Pancham Yadav won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships held in Las Vegas, the USA. He won the medal in the Men’s 74kg Freestyle category. Narsingh’s win confirmed quota place for India in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
