1.The Nurse Ms.Aruna Shanbaug ‘s story: Ms.Aruna Shanbaug was a nurse in KEM hospital Mumbai. In 1973 she was sexually assaulted by a sweeper which made her to go into coma. Since then she was in vegetative state (coma).In 2011, the Supreme Court had rejected a plea for her mercy killing (euthanasia) which was filed by former journalist and author Pinki Virani. She passed away recently.
2.NPAs on the rise in Banks: The problem of bad loans is particularly affecting public sector banks, which account for two-thirds of the country’s banking activity. They don’t seem to have got a grip on it. Out of 17 public sector banks for which the results for 2014-15 have been announced, six have reported gross NPA at an alarming level of more than six per cent.
3. Airtel rolls out 4G trial in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam: Bharti Airtel has launched 4G trials in Hyderabad in Telangana and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Now the customers across the area avail of Airtel 4G at 3G prices. Airtel has also announced go-to-market partnerships with Samsung and Flipkart.
4.Corporation Bank net profit up 4 per cent: Corporation Bank has recorded a net profit of Rs.584.26 crore for the financial year 2014-15, registering a growth of 4.01 per cent from Rs.561.72 crore registered during the last fiscal. It has declared a dividend of 70 per cent. Announcing the results Bank Chairman and Managing Director Mr. S.R. Bansal and his said the bank has also been very active in social security schemes and has made 13.24 lakh enrollments under three new schemes launched by the Central government by May 9.
5. New CAT fish species discovered in Manipur: the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) has recently discovered a new catfish specie named Glyptothorax senapatiensis . ZSI scientists discovered this fish in Chindwin river drainage in Senapati district of Manipur. This catfish species is known as Ngapang locally and is the staple diet of people in this region.

1. Bharti Airtel clinches finance deals from China: Bharti Airtel has received financing commitments up to US Dollar 2.5 billion from China Development Bank and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China with an average maturity of nine years.
2. ICICI Bank opens its first branch in China at Shanghai: The branch was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Ms. Chanda Kochar, the CEO of ICICI Bank.
3. The previous president Mohammed Morsi of Egypt sentenced to death: Mohammed Morsi who is the leader of Muslim Brotherhood Party was sentenced to death by a Cairo Court. He was ousted by the Military in July 2013 after mass protest by the people.
4. Haridutt Sharma Award to Ms. Anuradha Prasad: Noted senior Journalist Ms. Anuradha Prasad was given the Haridutt Sharma Award in recognition of her work in the field of Journalism by the Vice President Mr. Amid Hansari.
5. Opah, the world’s first fully warm-blooded fish species discovered by researchers: Opah is a Natures wonder. It is a warm blooded fish specie . Opah has developed an internal heat exchange system within its gills to keep it warm. Opah has been discovered in the deep waters off the Australia and the US coasts.
