1. According to a report by the professional services firm Ernst & Young, India has the second highest percentage of angel and incubator participation in the world. The percentage of angel and incubator participation in India rose to 17 per cent in 2013 from three per cent in 2011 with Canada at 20 per cent in 2013.

2. India has been ranked fifth on a list of countries with the highest number of think tanks, according to a report by the University of Pennsylvania. Only the US (1,830), China (429), the UK (287) and Germany (194) were ranked above India(192). Prominent Indian entities were the Centre for Civil Society (ranked 50th), Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (100th) and Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (105th).

3. US have committed a total of $4 billion for both projects and equipment sourcing in renewable energy (RE) sector in India. Recently government has revised the targets for solar energy to 100,000 Mw by 2019 and the wind energy to 10,000 Mw annually.

4. Wing Commander Pooja Thakur became the first lady officer to lead the Inter-Service Guard of Honour for a major visiting dignitary at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Guard of Honour was inspected by the US President Barack Obama.

5. Miss Colombia Paulina Vega was crowned Miss Universe 2014 at the final of 63rd edition of Miss Universe held in Miami, US on 25 January 2015. She was crowned by Miss Universe 2013 winner Gabriela Isler of Venezuela.

1. Government is planning to tap the potential of services and export them. It is working on reforms in areas such as legal, healthcare, and education services. The share of India's services sector in the global services trade is only three per cent as compared to 4.6 per cent of China, despite the tertiary sector contributing 57 per cent of the country's gross domestic product.

2. I India remained the world’s fourth-largest steel producing nation with total production of 83.20 million tonnes (mt) in 2014, according to data compiled by the World Steel Association (WSA). China is at the top followed by Japan and the US.

3. State Bank of India plans to raise share capital of up to Rs 15,000 crore through an equity offering to support loan growth and meet capital adequacy requirements. It may also use the global depository receipt and American depository receipt route to raise money.

4. Singaporean lender DBS Bank launched Tab banking for its customers in the Small and Medium scale Enterprises segment which will ease and fasten the account opening process. The new initiative named 'AweSME Accounts' will replicate the physical account opening form for SME accounts on the tablet.

5. Bharti Airtel, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Airtel M Commerce Services Ltd. (AMSL), is applying for a Payments Bank licence with Kotak Mahindra Bank as a partner. AMSL offers mobile money services under the brand name Airtel Money and is proposing to convert the existing pre-paid payment instrument licence into a Payments Bank license.
