1. The G-20 Labour and Employment Ministerial meet was held at Melbourne, Australia on 10 September 2014 to 11 September 2014. It discussed about how to increase job growth across the G20 , improve productivity and drive growth. G20 Leaders Summit will be held in Brisbane in November.

2. National Hindi Divas (Hindi Day) was observed across India on 14 September 2014. The President of India Pranab Mukherjee presented Rajbhasa awards to recognize the excellent contribution of Ministries, Departments and Nationalized Banks and others in the field of Hindi.

3. Kaushik basu is the second Indian to be elected as president of International Economic Association (IEA). He will continue to serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of World Bank. Amartya Sen became the first Indian to join IEA.

4. Narendra Ambwani was elected as Chairman of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI). He succeeded Partha Rakshit. Narendra Ambwani has been a member of the board of governors for seven years and provided active support to self-regulation in the advertising market.

5. Russian hackers have leaked around Five millions Gmail Passwords of Indians. The same Google account password is used across all Google products, such as Gmail, Drive, Plus, YouTube, Maps etc. Google denied the claim and said that its automated anti-hijacking systems would have blocked many of the login attempts.

CURRENT AFFAIRS 13th Sep., 2014

1. Prominent Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer Firoza Begum died in Dhaka due to heart and kidney problems. She was honoured with the Independence Day Award in 1979 and the Sheltech Award in 2000.

2. Supreme Court directed the Centre to reinstate Rajeshwar Singh as permanent Deputy Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court censured the Government for not complying with the directions of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) issued on 24 December 2013.

3, As per the 6th Economic Census Report 2013, Arunachal Pradesh has the maximum percentage of hired workers amongst all states, including in segments like education and health. The Percentage of female hired workers in Arunachal Pradesh: 30.3%.

4. Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India launched a new payment gateway integrated to the e-filing system of the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) . This new facility will be dedicated to the working of the Indian Patent Office as InternationalSearching Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The new facility will facilitate payment by means of internet banking, credit cards or debit cards of more than 70 Banks
