1. Former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Kalyan Singh sworn-in as the 20th Governor of Rajasthan. Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court Sunil Ambwani administered the oath of office to Singh at a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan in Jaipur.
2. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has partnered with online marketplace Flipkart to give training to its students in areas like creating private lables and marketing of products. The MoU will give the students access to other handloom, apparels, leather and accessory clusters.
3. President Pranab Mukherjee has cleared the appointment of Justice H.L. Dattu as the 42nd Chief Justice of India. He could become the last Chief Justice of India to be appointed under the collegium system of judicial appointments.
4. Tata Consultancy Services has reappointed N Chandrasekaran as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for a five year term. He was earlier appointed as CEO and MD for a period of five years from 2009 to 2014.
5. According to a WHO report, India accounted for the highest estimated number of suicides in the world in 2012. It reports that one person commits suicide every 40 seconds globally and South-East Asia Region has the highest estimated suicide rate compared to other regions.

1. NABARD has brought Cooperative Banking sector onto a Core Banking Solution (CBS) platform through its 'NABARD initiated Project on CBS in Co-operatives.' It will give the country's rural sector access to basic banking facilities such as Any Branch Banking, NEFT, RTGS and access to ATMs.
2. Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has stopped the appointment process of some senior level officers in public sector banks (PSBs) and sought clarification from the Finance Ministry. It has found certain alleged anomalies in the selection process of high level officers in banks.
3. HRD ministry has nominated two women scientists Tessy Thomas and Vijayalakshmi Ravindranath to the IIT council, the apex body of 16 IITs. Thomas is the first woman to head India's missile programme. Ravindranath helped establish National Brain Research Centre.
4. Reserve Bank of India has asked banks to set up a time-bound mechanism for clearing loan proposals and cautioned them in carrying out necessary due diligence. The direction by RBI is expected to expedite large projects where credit is indispensible.
5. Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, has launched a major national programme to identify the correlates, causes and predictive biomarkers of preterm birth under its Grand Challenge Programme
