01. 20 commercial banks evince interest to tie up with India Post: Around 20 commercial banks, including SBI have evinced interest to tie up with India Post for setting up a payment bank. The tie-up will involve payments banks sourcing loans for commercial banks, while commercial banks will offer credit cards to customers of payments banks.

02. Committee appointed to simplify tax laws: The Government has appointed R.V.Eswar committee to look into the aspects of simplifying the tax laws in India. The first set of recommendations is expected to be presented before 31st January 2016.

03. EXIM Bank to facilitate Infra work in Africa: The Exports-Imports Bank has decided to set up Kukuza Project Development Company in Africa to facilitate Infra structure related works in Africa. The other partners of the group are IL&FS Group, State Bank of India and African Development Bank.

04. 33% women’s quota in Government jobs: The Madhya Pradesh Government has announced a 33% quota for women in the Government jobs. The state cabinet approved the above proposal and issued a notification in this regard.

05. India moves up index again: India has moved up the ease of doing business index released by World Bank. It moved up 12 places, to reach 130th position. These days, in India one can start a business in 29 days, as against 127 days in 2014.

06. 71% PSU sale is a record: State-owned companies account for 71 per cent of the Rs 17,000 crore that has been mopped up through equity issuances during the first half of the current financial year. During April-September, government has raised Rs 12,600 crore through stake sale in four companies.

07. IOC allows refugees to compete: The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has allowed the refugees who are qualified athletes to compete in the Olympics games. IOC has created a corpus fund of 2 million US $ to bring hope to refugees through sports.

08.New project to facilitate tax payers: The e-Sahyog project which would facilitate tax payers from reducing the need to appear in person before the IT department has been launched by the Ministry of Finance. The tax payers can respond to the queries of IT department online and can also check the status of the queries.

09. India tops in consumption of gold: India has topped the list of world countries, beating China in consumption of gold in the first 9 months of 2015. Totally India has consumed 642 tonnes of gold so far in 2015.

10. India – Sri Lanka joint naval exercise: The 4th edition of the India – Sri Lanka joint naval exercise began in Tricomalee in Sri Lanka. The exercise has both harbor phase and sea phase, in which the navy personnel will share the knowledge and work towards maritime security.

11. First Woman President for Nepal: Bidya Devi Bhandari has been elected as the first ever woman president of Nepal. Presently she is the deputy leader of Communist Party of Nepal. She secured 327 votes as against her rival, who secured 214 votes.
