01. NRIs can subscribe to National Pension System :RBI has allowed Non-Resident Indians to subscribe to the National Pension System (NPS). NPS is now made available to all the citizens fo the country, which includes the workers in the unorganized sector also, on voluntary basis.

02. New Military Projects worth Rs.12000 crore cleared: Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has cleared new military proposals worth Rs.12000 crores. These proposals aim at modernizing the military and also purchase of machinery / vehicles etc.

03. Honours for India in IPC Championships (IPC) :IPC championships organized by International Paralympic Committee is for athletes with physical disabilities. India’s Amit Kumar has won a silver medal in the world championships held at Doha in Men’s club throw events.

04. India’s fiscal deficit touch 68%: India’s fiscal deficit aggregated to 3.79 trillion rupees, which is 68.1% of the full year target for 2015-2016. Net tax receipts stood at 3.7 trillion rupees in the first half of the fiscal year that ends in March 2016, while total spending touched 9.1 trillion rupees.

05. New nomination for RBI Central Board :Economic Affairs Secretary Shakthikantha Das has been nominated to the RBI Central Board. He is a 1980 batch officer from Tamil Nadu. The affairs of RBI are controlled by the Central Board.

06. China tops e-commerce sales: China has overtaken USA to become the world leader in e-commerce sales. During the year 2014, there were361 million online shoppers, which represented 55.7% of the nation’s shoppers. The e-commerce revenues touched US $ 439 million, while in the USA it was US $ 290 million only.

07. Rupay Cards a tough competition for Mastercard: India’s own payment gateway has been giving a tough commercial competition to Mastercard. About 15 crores Rupay cards have been given to bank customers, so far. Issuing Rupay cards is very cost-effective, when compared to VISA or Master, as the charges are relatively low.

08. Rating for IDFC withdrawn by Flitch :The International rating agency Flitch has withdrawn the BBB rating on IDFC, the newly formed bank. This was due to the fact that the rating was no longer relevant, following the demerger of its financial business into a separate banking subsidiary, IDFC Bank Limited.

09. Saudi blogger wins Sakharov Prize 2015: The Sakharov Prize 2015, for freedom of thought offered by European Parliament has been given to a Saudi Blogger Raif Badawi. He has been considered as a symbol of freedom of expression and speech.

10. New President for Tanzania :John Magufuli, of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party has won the presidential elections in Tanzania. He secured 58.46 percent of the votes polled. He is the fifth president of Tanzania.
