01. Voluntary use of Aadhar cards for welfare measures – “No” says Supreme Court: Voluntary use of Aadhar cards by certain statutory bodies for welfare schemes other than LPG / PDS has been disallowed by RBI. But the Supreme court came down heavily on this measure stating that Aadhar cards need not be made compulsory for other schemes other than the above.

02. Cyclist Deborah sets new record in Taiwan cup: Indian cyclist Deborah Herold set a new record in the cycling completion Taiwan cup to win 5 medals, including one gold. Deborah, 20, is a 2004 Tsunami survivor and belongs to Andamans.

3. Russian Women again crowned Volleyball champions of Europe: Russian women retained the European Volleyball Championship for women by beating Netherlands comprehensively. They claimed their 19th title.

04. Trade and Development Report of UNCTAD released: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released the Trade and Development Report 2015. The report reviewed the recent trends in the global economy and also suggested various means and ways to make World Bank /IMF and other financial institutions work for the development of the trade.

05. 83rd Indian Airforce Day Observed: The Airforce Day was observed on October 8th 2015. On this occasion, there were celebrations at Hindon Airforce Station in Ghaziabad and there was an arial parade of the Airforce in a V-shaped formation.

06. Poet returns Sahitya Akademi Award: Poet Ashok Vajpayi followed the footsteps of Nayantara Sehgal in returning the Sahitya Akademi Award to protest against the recent lynching of a person in Bihar for eating beef and also against the Prime Minister’s silence over the incident.

07. Global Financial Stability Report for October 2015 released by IMF: The report analyzed the key risks facing the global financial system and also suggested ways to handle them. The report, while mentioning about India pointed out that though the expansion of credit was more moderate, this situation has not prevented high formation of loans which became stressed.

08. Nearly 95 lakhs toilets built under Swach Bharat Campaign: Under Swach Bharat Campaign nearly 95 lakhs toilets have been built in the rural areas. This was informed by the Union Minister of Rural Development Mr.Birendar Singh Chaudry.
