1. NCW notice to Kamat on remarks about Smriti: Congress general secretary Gurudas Kamat will reply to a notice from the National Commission for Women (NCW) on his remarks allegedly demeaning Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani during the campaign for the local body polls in Rajasthan.

2. HPCL trucks to use bio diesel: In a step towards adopting green fuel, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) has begun using bio diesel in its company trucks. Initially, the oil major will use 5% bio diesel blended with regular diesel.

Absence of Bankruptcy Law Hits Bad-Loan Fight, PEs Tell Rajan: Private equity fund managers and Asset Reconstruction Companies have told Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan that the absence of a bankruptcy law and banks’ reluctance to take bigger losses were stumbling blocks in their efforts to cleanse the banking system of bad loans.


8. Allahabad Bank rolls out Mudra card: Allahabad Bank has launched the Mudra card, a specialised card for loans under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). The card was launched by the bank’s Chairman and Managing Director, Rakesh Sethi, on July 17. According to a release by the public sector lender, the Mudra card will be issued for utilisation of working capital limits.
