1. The government is set to move forward on the question of granting citizenship to Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh and is expected to submit a policy document to the Supreme Court soon.

2. The veteran actor-filmmaker Shashi Kapoor, recently received the Dada Saheb Phalke award, India’s highest honour in cinema. The actor-producer is the 46th winner of the honour.

3. India recently successfully test-fired an advanced version of the BrahMos land-attack cruise missile from the Car Nicobar Islands. The land-to-land configuration of BrahMos Block-III version was test launched from a Mobile Autonomous Launcher (MAL) for its full-range of 290 km.

4. Indian Navy’s latest Naval establishment, INS Sardar Patel, was commissioned at Gujarat’s Porbandar recently.

5. Indian Army signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bank of India (BOI) on the Defence Salary Package. It includes the standard bundle of free/concessional services including free drafts, free cheque books, free funds transfers to any bank in India etc.

6. The National Technology Day was observed in India on 11 May 2015 to memorize the anniversary of Shakti, the Pokhran nuclear test held on 11 May 1998.

1. Government will soon initiate a mission called Sarva Kaushal Abhiyaan to enhance skill development in the country. It has formed a working group to work out a transparent policy for state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and to suggest ways to scale up their capacity.

2. During his short visit to the Naxal hotbed of Dantewada, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated welfare projects worth about Rs 25,000 crore in mineral-rich tribal belt of Chhattisgarh. These include projects to set up a major steel plant and a railway line.

3. India and Japan will set up a logistics data bank (LDB) service that will ensure speedy movement of two-way merchandise trade by way of real-time tracking of container and cargo movement.

4. Russian-Indian Association of Institutions of Higher Education has been set up. This has been done through a Memorandum of Interest (MOI) signed by director IIT Bombay and president of the Russian Rectors’ Union.

5. North Korea said that it had successfully test-fired a ballistic missile from a submarine. The test, if confirmed, would pose a new challenge to the United States and its regional allies, South Korea and Japan.
