3 Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2014 will be given to Legendary actor Shashi Kapoor.
He is the 46th Dada Saheb Phalke Award Winner.
The award is conferred by the Government of India for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema.
The award consists of a Swarn Kamal, a cash prize of 10 lakhs rupees and a shawl.
4 Indian Railways has launched RuPay pre-paid debit card service for the railway passengers.
The card will enable passengers to book their Rail tickets and do shopping using RuPay pre-paid debit cards.
Card can be availed from either the Union Bank or the IRCTC. The service was launched by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in collaboration with the Union Bank of India (UBI) and the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI).
5 U.S. mathematician John F. Nash Jr. and Canadian-born American national Louis Nirenberg have been named as the joint winners of the Abel Prize for 2015 for their contributions to mathematical sciences.
The two mathematicians won the prize for striking and seminal contributions to the theory of nonlinear partial differential equations and its applications to geometric analysis.
Nash and Nirenberg will receive the financial award of 6 million Norwegian kroner (about 765,000 U.S. dollars) from Norway’s King Harald during a formal ceremony in Oslo on 19 May 2015.
6 The Union Cabinet approved 33 % reservation for women in police forces of all union territories, including the Delhi Police, through direct recruitment in non-gazetted posts.

8 Lee Kuan Yew, who was Singapore’s first Prime Minister when the country gained Independence in 1965, has died on 23 March at the age of 91.
Lee Kuan Yew, who was born in 1923, formed the People’s Action Party in 1954, then became Prime Minister in 1959.
9 Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on 24 Marchannounced allocation of 17 Mega Food Parks, entailing a total investment of Rs 2,100 crore, to various states and private ventures.
The 17 MFP's will be spread across 11 States. While Kerala, Telangana, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu were sanctioned two MFPs each whereas Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar were sanctioned one MFP each.
These parks are aimed at creating state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities to reduce food wastage and create value addition.
