* SS Ahluwalia appointed as Chairman of JPC on Land Acquisition Amendment Bill, 2015

- The committee has 20 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 members from the Rajya sabha and will 

submit its report by the first week of 2015 monsoon session.

* MJ Joseph appointed as Controller General of Accounts

- Prior to this appointment, Joseph was the Director General of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). 

He is a 1979 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer.

* Arvind Saxena appointed as a Member of Union Public Service Commission

- With this appointment, Saxena became the first officer from Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to 

become a member of UPSC.

* President authorized Justice Cyriac Joseph to act as interim NHRC Chairperson

- Former NHRC chairperson K.G. Balakrishnan had completed his tenure on 11 May 2015. He was the 

sixth NHRC chairman and the longest serving one.

* KV Kamath appointed as first President of New Development Bank of BRICS nations

- Currently, Kamath is the Chairman of the India’s largest private sector bank, Industrial Credit and 

Investment Corporation of India (ICICI).

* K Satish Reddy appointed as Chairman of National Safety Council (NSC)

- In the present position, he will oversee its functioning in generating and developing initiatives on 

Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) at the national level.

* Union Finance Ministry appointed Justice AP Shah Committee to look into the issue of MAT on FIIs

- The committee was appointed to resolve the contentious issue between the tax authorities and the

- Jyoti, a retired IAS officer of 1975 batch, has worked as the Managing Director of the Sardar Sarovar 

Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) and also served as chairman of Kandla Port Trust.

* Surender Singh took over as Director General of CISF

- Surender Singh is a 1980-batch police officer of West Bengal cadre.

* Mukesh Khanna appointed as Chairperson of Children's Film Society of India

- Children's Film Society India (CFSI) was founded by, India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal 

Nehru in 1955 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

* Dr. Mohan Kumar appointed as Ambassador of India to France

- He is a 1981-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.

* Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai sworn in as first lady judge of Sikkim HC

- Meenakshi Madan Rai, who is the first female judge of the Sikkim High Court, is also the third High 

Court judge who hails from the small border state.

* Bharat Hari Singhania became the president of JK Organization

- He is an industrialist with over forty-four years of experience in managing various industries including 

cement, tyres, paper and succeeded Gaur Hari Singhania who died on 4 April 2015.

* Arun Kumar Jha appointed as CEO of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)

- As the CEO of KVIC, he will oversee the day-to-day functioning of the commission and report about its 

activities to the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

* Sumit Mazumder elected as President of Confederation of Indian Industry for the year 2015-16

- Dr. Naushad Forbes was elected as the President-designate and Shobana Kamineni was elected as 

the Vice-President of the CII for the year 2015-16

* Dr. Nasim Zaidi appointed as Chief Election Commissioner of India
